Portfolio

This Website was designed for desktop use.
It is not optimized to render on mobile devices because it uses 3D models
and animations not supported in mobile. My portfolio is a
showcase of my web development progress. I have worked
hard to put together a comprehensive design using my skills in react.
Using some WebGL elements, JavaScript and exciting
visuals. I hope you enjoy it!

Blog

K9 Academy is a blog that I have developed with my knowledge of animal training
and passion for building the best relationship possible with my furry friends.
I have owned dogs my entire life and want to share what
I’ve learned in hopes that you too can feel
confident that your pet will be happy,
obedient and feel loved.

Game

I studied game development and programming at Eastern Iowa Community Colleges from 2017-2019. I graduated and went on vacation to LA to visit friends and unwind as a reward for my hard work. When I was there I had an opportunity to meet an influential figure that has worked on some of your and my favorite games. His advice to me was to keep creating and making projects! So when I got back home that’s exactly what I did.

I locked myself in my basement on my days off and created my first mobile game titled Astro Rush! It was a four month journey that consumed much of my free time and resources but was so rewarding to finally complete and publish to the google play store. It has 15 levels of falling asteroids, a host of weapons to blast through obstacles and a few surprises along the journey. Developed for mobile, this passion project just left the google play store but you can watch the trailer on YouTube.

About Me

Hi,

I’m Eric. I’ve worked professionally as a web developer since 2018. Before that I was an enthusiast who was always interested in how things worked. I started programming websites in my early teens. I used a free service called Angelfire. My friends and I would spend hours learning before documentation was an industry standard. I played video games and had animals, mostly dogs.

I recently started a blog because of my passion for raising and training my dog how to obey commands and behave when on and off the leash. I don’t think there was a time when I didn’t have a pet. My current furry best friend is named Lucky. We have been together for eight years and love to swim! If you would like to follow my journey on pet leadership check out my K9 blog.

I started tinkering with things when I was very young. Tearing apart my bikes and then my gadgets when they stopped working, not to the delight of my dad. šŸ¤£ I always wanted to know what was going on under the hood and always thought “You know what? I can fix that”. So, naturally I’ve continued that into my adult life. I have been in the maintenance field for years working in everything from robotics to calibrating welding program systems, to precision measuring instruments for sun gears for car transmissions. Ultimately, I decided to start a blog on DIY projects. You can find the link to that blog above if you’d like to know more about DIY!

Sometimes we all need to slow down and relax! I took up gardening and more specifically peppers. What could be more relaxing than igniting an internal fire deep in the depths of your stomach right? My thoughts exactly! So I started growing Chili, Serrano, JalapeƱos, and even Carolina Reapers. My daughter isn’t so big on hot peppers so I’ve ventured into sweeter things like strawberries and limes too. Anyways, I started a blog on growing and the link is above for that also. I invite you to check it out if it interests you at all.

Back to programming, I went back to college after being in factories for 12 years. I wanted to pursue my passion of not only programming, though that did spark a flame inside me, but also to get to the bottom to the questions of how things worked. So I enrolled in community college and found that they offered something in Augmented and Virtual Realities! Really cool stuff, but what really caught my attention was mobile applications. So after graduating I decided I would lock myself in the concrete jungle (my basement) and program my own mobile game! I took me about four months of coding and level building to develop my first full complete project. Complete with 15 levels of falling rocks, dangerous conditions and a host of weapons that I jammed into one masterpiece that I titled Astro Rush. I developed it using the Unity engine and published it to the Google Play Store. I left the link in the section above in case you want to download or just go watch the trailer.

Thanks for reading my story, please reach out if you have any questions, work or just have an idea that you want to collaborate with me on. See ya soon!
